CHALLENGES

CHALLENGES

The brief was for each structure to be pre-fabricated and easily transported to remote locations. They also needed to adhere to the size limitations for huts and bothy structures.

The challenges of these structure are the very things that allow us to maintain the historical and cultural importance of our relationship with the wild lands around us.

PROJECT GOALS

PROJECT GOALS

Soundscapes aim to close the gap between us and our environments. These structures and their locations exclude a passive observation of nature, instead they invite you to become a part of it. With bespoke soundscapes composed to calm, ground and regulate in collaboration with artists and field recordings.

Soundscapes aim to close the gap between us and our environments. These structures and their locations exclude a passive observation of nature, instead they invite you to become a part of it. With bespoke soundscapes composed to calm, ground and regulate in collaboration with artists and field recordings.

There are only three rules. [1] leave no trace, [2] don’t pin the location on social media, [3] don’t record the soundscapes; not to achieve an exclusivity, but to achieve a respect for the environments these structures sit within and reference.

RESEARCH DETAILS

RESEARCH DETAILS

Research has shown that both listening to music and spending time in nature can reduce anxiety, blood pressure, and pain; as well as improve sleep quality, mood, mental alertness, and memory.

Research has shown that both listening to music and spending time in nature can reduce anxiety, blood pressure, and pain; as well as improve sleep quality, mood, mental alertness, and memory.

Soundscapes blend two very human pursuits of music and nature; for self preservation, whether used as a detox or a ritual. Preventative health is becoming a norm and these installations offer more than tech companies often can; memories. This isn’t anti tech; it’s anti-disconnection.
