BETHAN NELSON
ARCHITECT

   Bethan Nelson is an architect with a deep interest in how we spend our time; naturally inquisitive, she seeks to integrate a balance of knowledge and curiosity in order to progressively impact our days and environments.

   Prior to establishing Programm Works, Bethan worked on all-scale projects spanning hospitality, culture and residential sectors with practices in Amsterdam, Manchester and Edinburgh.



ELIZABETH YOUNG
CREATIVE DIRECTOR

   Elizabeth is a creative director based in Edinburgh, UK. She began her design career in 2005 and has since worked across different realms of design, notably brand, art direction, experiential and editorial. Elizabeth has created culturally recognised work for global brands such as PUMA, Wood Wood, New Balance and Universal Records.

    Her background in the global menswear sector affords the practice a distinctive edge, seamlessly integrating commercial insight into architectural projects to ensure they are both conceptually strong and commercially viable.









    When we’re not working in the city, on-site or travelling between commitments, you’ll often find us heading into nature at every possible opportunity. Whilst city life allows us to immerse ourselves in rich, vibrant culture, few things are more inspiring and restorative for us than time spent exploring landscapes and expansive skies. We build this sense of balance into our working practice in many ways, blending shared spatial experiences with more intimate feelings of calm solitude.

   Programm Works is a hybrid design practice pursuing progressive architecture and design outcomes for hospitality and future living. 

   Our work centres around ‘THE ART AND ACT OF LIVING WELL’. We look to execute projects that not only celebrate rigorous research, exploration and experimentation, but that also believe in a consistent enriching of everyday life; unfolding narratives and empowering expression; questioning what it means to be in tune with ourselves and our environments.   As an architect and creative director respectively, Bethan Nelson and Elizabeth Young have an extensive understanding of the built environment, commercial branding and experiential design; the combination of which creates holistic and fully integrated spaces for a range of commercial and private clients.

OUR FOCUS IS IN THE RESEARCH, PRODUCTION AND ARRANGEMENT OF MATERIALS. COMBINING TRADITIONAL ARCHITECTURE WITH TECHNOLOGY TO INNOVATE AND PRESENT A PROGRAM OF NEW AESTHETICS AND UTILITARIAN VALUES.












   We are much about socio-economic shifts as it is about personal interactions with the everyday.

   Our practice’s outputs purposefully extend beyond the confines of categories and traditions to create works that reference a broad spectrum of influences, resulting in pieces that are both functional and designed to endure.   Through this commitment to rigorous research, physical prototyping, and bespoke creations, each piece reflects a deep understanding of people's lives, environments and cyclical resources.
