NEW PROJECT ENQUIRY

We were commissioned to re-imagine a Georgian apartment set in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town. Standing at approximately 35m2, the single underlying request was ‘ultimate comfort’.

Paying homage to the original Georgian characteristics of the space, our design prioritised symmetry, proportion and scale, whilst incorporating elements which allowed for a tailored approach to modern living. A key element of which is the bespoke kitchen; designed to appear as a side table when not in use, with floating units, an integrated sink and telescopic tap, the kitchen becomes highly functional whilst beautifully aesthetic.

Visual clutter was to be reduced as much as possible by integrating storage as a priority within the design. Balancing the interior finishes with the use of a traditional herringbone pattern, soft linens and a Moroccan plaster for a warm and tactile feel.

Our approach to the more technical aspects of the space looked to increase the thermal and acoustic performance of the property. We maintained a breathable build-up to the facade wall which helps to regulate air quality and reduce moisture build up within the envelope. Matched with a robust detailing to the floor and ceiling, the noise disturbance from neighbouring properties was limited.
